Booking a job
How soon can a plumber actually get here?
Frequently the same day, though it depends on how full the run is and how urgent the job sounds when you call, so the quickest way to know is to just ring and ask.
Should I book online or phone directly, which gets a faster response?
Either works fine, both land with the same crew at the same price, so use whichever's easiest for you right now.
I'm renting, can I book work without going through the landlord first?
For something small, yes, but a bigger job usually needs the property manager's sign-off before we proceed.

How pricing actually works
If the job turns out bigger once you're on site, do costs change automatically?
Never automatically, any change to the number gets agreed with you first, and the quote you approved originally is what it stays at.
What if you spot something completely unrelated while you're already here?
That gets quoted as its own separate item, and nothing happens on it until you've actually said yes.
My bill's climbed and I can't see any obvious cause, is that worth mentioning?
Absolutely, a quietly rising bill is often the very first clue of a hidden leak, and catching it early tends to keep the fix simple.

The Lifetime Labour Warranty, does it cover the parts as well as the work?
Just the labour side, parts follow whatever term the manufacturer sets, but our own workmanship guarantee has no end date.
If a fault we fixed comes back, does that repair get charged again?
Not when it's our error to begin with, that's exactly what the warranty exists for, and there's no second bill for us getting it wrong.

Does a standard repair job typically need council approval first?
Almost never for a like-for-like fix, the main exception is anything altering a drainage line, and we'll flag that clearly if it applies.
Is there anything I should do to prepare before you arrive?
Not really, though knowing where your water meter is helps, and giving a clear description of the problem over the phone does most of the groundwork in advance.
For outdoor-only work, does someone need to be home?
Usually not, provided we can reach the work area, and we'll call ahead if there's ever a genuine reason we need access inside.

Does a property further from the shops get a slower response than one nearby?
No, response times stay consistent right across the area we cover, wherever the call's coming from.
Is an original 1980s fitting always more likely to be the fault than something newer?
It's a fair starting guess but not a reliable rule, a well-kept original can outlast a poorly done recent job, so we still check properly rather than assume.
